Stainless Steels Casting Application
Alloy | Stainless Steel Properties | Application |
---|---|---|
304 | Type alloy 304 is the most versatile alloy in the stainless steel castings series. Afterwards, it is ideal for a wide variety of household and commercial applications. Another key point, 304 has excellent corrosion resistance and is easy to process and shape. | Medical/Mining/Petrochemical |
304L | 304L is very similar to 304 alloys, the difference is that the maximum carbon content of 304 alloy is 0.08%, while 304L is 0.03%. Basically, this “L” can be understood as low carbon. | Medical/Food/Petrochemical |
316 | At high temperatures, 316 stainless steel casting has higher creep and tensile strength. It is commonly used in the paper industry, chemical and textile processing equipment, furnace parts, etc. | Automotive/Food/Petrochemical |
316L | Compared with 316, the molybdenum in 316L make it have higher corrosion resistance. It can resist atmospheric corrosion. Additionally, 316L has excellent resistance to inter-granular corrosion when welding. | Medical/Food/Petrochemical |
410 | 410 is a chromium martensitic stainless steel that can be heated to obtain a wide range of mechanical properties. Stainless steel casting 410 has high strength, hardness and good corrosion resistance. It is easy to extend and be formed. In addition, in all cases it is magnetic. It is commonly used in cutlery, petroleum refining, petrochemical processing, and marine environments, etc. | Automotive/Machine/Food |
416 | Alloy 416 series is high-chromium martensitic free-machining stainless steel. It has high strength and is easy to process. 416 can be applied to axles, gears, valves, and lead screws. It is not recommended to apply to containers filled with gas or liquid under high pressure. | Automotive/Machine/Food |
17-4 | 17-4 is an age-hardening martensitic stainless steel. It combines high strength and corrosion resistance. Hardening can be achieved after simple low-temperature treatment. 17-4 still has high tensile strength, hardness, oxidation resistance. Compared with traditional martensitic stainless steel, 17-4 ph investment casting is more weldable. Finally, all that properties make it used in oil, natural gas, aerospace and other fields. | Military/Medical/Machine |

Cast Stainless Steel Mold Development
The stainless steel foundry technical department develops the mold. Also, the quality department uses the three coordinates to carry out the dimensional inspection.

Stainless Steel Foundry Wax Pattern
The workers use automatic waxing machines to set the waxing pressure, holding time especially.

Stainless Steel Foundry Shell Preparation
The workshop has 4 automatic production lines, able to produce 1800 sets of shells. Further, we use a hygrothermograph, aerometer, and PH to check liquor aluminum chloride.

Casting Stainless Steel Metal Pouring
We have 4 sets of 500KG furnaces are in production, and 3 sets of 500KG spare furnaces are ready. Generally, the operators conduct rigorous tests to fulfill material requirements.

Cast Stainless Steel Clean And Heat Treat
The workshop is equipped with 8 heat treatment furnaces, 3 quenching furnaces. Meanwhile, we also have 1 central shot blasting machine and 11 large shot blasting machines.

Stainless Steel Casting Inspection
We use CMM to check all blank dimensions. We have a Rockwell hardness machine, dynamic balance instrument, roundness meter. Moreover, the company’s quality department has certified employees to do UT, PT, MT testing.

Casting Stainless Steel Mold Development
Design and produce molds according to the requirements of the drawings. Generally, wood molds can be used for single-piece production. Above all, plastic molds and metal molds are made for mass production. Besides, templates can be made for mass castings. Our mold is mainly made of aluminum.

Cast Stainless Steel Modeling (Core-Making)
modeling: forming the cavity of the casting with molding sand.
core-making: forming the inner shape of the castin.
mold matching: putting the core into the cavity and closing the upper and lower flasks.
All in all, modeling is a key process in casting.

Stainless Steel Foundry Melting
According to the required metal composition, the chemical composition is matched. After that, we select the appropriate melting furnace to melt the alloy material.

Stainless Steel Foundry Metal Pouring
Pour qualified molten metal into the sandbox equipped with the mold. Besides, the pouring stage has high safety requirements. We have rigorous process control to protect the safety of our employees.

Custom Stainless Steel Casting Clean And Heat Treat
After the molten metal is poured and solidified, the molding sand is removed. Certainly, the gate and other attachments are knocked out to form the required casting.

Inspection
Above all, we use CMM to check all blank dimensions. After that, we have a Rockwell hardness machine, dynamic balance instrument, roundness meter. Basically, the company’s quality department has certified employees to do UT, PT, MT testing.
